Independence Middle School -

Sara always has a smile on her face and works tirelessly to build positive relationships with her students. She wears many hats here at IMS, having taught social emotional classes in addition to her PE classes. Now, this year, she has taken on some of the AVID classes. Sara spends countless hours outside of contract time to prepare lessons for her new classes so that her students get the very best every day. In addition to teaching, she helps coach volleyball and track after school. She is a tremendous role model for her students and athletes, showing compassion and kindness to everyone. Sara is a great friend and colleague and we cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award. We appreciate you, Mrs. Lakey!
