Our Teacher of the Month for May is Breeze Jones. Teachers say "Breeze is a wonderful classroom instructor; she gives 100% to her work here at IMS. She quietly goes about the building helping students- they have no idea on how much extra time she puts in behind the scenes. From grading essays to collecting data, she thinks critically on how to improve instruction and learning. She deserves to represent IMS as a teacher of the month. "
Thank you, Mrs. Jones!!! #TheBulldogWay
Reminder, all students who are interested in participating in athletics/activities next year will need a physical. Community Health is coming to IMS to do physicals but paperwork is due to the school tomorrow. Physical paperwork can be picked up in the clinic.
Student of the month for May is a kind and thoughtful student. She works hard to have straight A's and has been on the honor roll. Mrs. Johnson says she has mastered the art of drawing, painting, pottery wheel and paper mache. Other teachers say she is a good leader. She also keeps busy with her many sport activities such as volleyball, wrestling, and track.
Student of the month for May is Dylan Schnurbusch.

Did you know the town of Independence does not have a city flag?
Mrs. Woodward's 6th grade social studies class has been learning about where flags came from. The students took their knowledge about flags and applied it to create a flag representing the town of Independence. After creating the flags that represent Independence the classes voted to come up with seven finalists. Those finalists were Bryor Smith, Maddie Stair, Lucy McAfee, Henry Matlock, Saige Rock, Kaelynn Carnes and Cyarra Rexwindle.
Mrs. Woodward sent the seven finalist flags to the Mayor of Independence, Tim Emert and he picked a winner! The winner of Mrs. Woodward's 6th grade social studies Flag contest is Kaelynn Carnes.
Again congratulations to Kaelynn Carnes for winning the flag contest. She will receive a gift card and her flag will be hung by the office for the next couple of weeks. #TheBulldogWay

EIGHTH GRADE PARENTS-- THE DEADLINE FOR YEARBOOK APPRECIATION ADS IS MAY 3RD! Another mass email will be sent home with instructions if you wish to purchase one for your student.
CHC will be doing Sports Physicals for us in May. To cut down on confusion, packets will be available for student's to pick up in the MS and HS clinics only (not in the office). Once a student has their packet filled out it can be returned back to the clinic. The deadline to return packets will be May 3rd (instruction sheet will be sent home with packet).
We will look the packets over and make sure all signatures are in place. For each school's day the maximum number of physicals that can be completed will be 100. We will also be offering physicals at Central Enrollment so they will have multiple chances to get it done. Once the physicals are completed we will chart them in the clinic, then give them to the office (athletic secretary).
5/16/2024 from 8A-3:15P @ IHS
5/17/2024 from 8A-3:30P @ IMS

Dear Bulldog Family,
This is a friendly reminder that IMS will be dismissing school early - at 2:55pm - tomorrow, Thursday, April 18th due to the IMS home track meet. School buses will run at their normal time (3:30pm) as IMS is the only school in the district that is releasing early tomorrow.
Bus students at IMS will remain in the cafeteria until the buses arrive. If your child is a bus rider and you are able to pick him/her up at 2:55pm, feel free to do so.
We will remain on this schedule even if the track meet is canceled due to inclement weather.
If you have any questions please call the IMS office at 620-332-1836.
Excited for a great week! #TheBulldogWay
